Who We Are
Suds of Love, Inc. is a faith-driven nonprofit serving our unhoused and underserved neighbors with dignity, respect, and love—one clean load at a time.
Restoring Dignity Through Hygiene.
We believe everyone deserves access to basic hygiene. Our mission is to provide free laundry services, showers, hygiene kits, and washer/dryer donations to schools and communities in need. But we don’t just wash clothes—we restore hope.
The Heart of Our Work: Miss Dorothy
Our 30-foot mobile laundry and shower truck—affectionately named Miss Dorothy—travels across Brunswick County and beyond to meet people where they are. Equipped with 3 washer/dryer sets and a full bathroom, Miss Dorothy is more than a truck—she’s a symbol of care, compassion, and second chances.
Where It All Began
Suds of Love started with a simple observation: people can’t thrive when they don’t feel clean. What began as a grassroots effort to serve our local homeless community has grown into a countywide initiative with deep roots in service, prayer, and action. Our founder, Tina Bowen, envisioned a space where people felt seen, heard, and loved—and that vision drives us every day.
– Bill, a guest
“Now that I have clean clothes, people will stop treating me like a bum and a beggar when I go into a store… I feel normal now.”
What Sets Us Apart
At Suds of Love, we meet people where they are—with open hearts, listening ears, and the practical tools to restore dignity. We believe hygiene is more than just a basic need—it’s a bridge to opportunity, self-worth, and belonging. Clean clothes and a warm shower may seem small, but for someone facing hardship, they can be life-changing.
Every time Miss Dorothy rolls into a community, we bring more than soap and water—we bring hope, smiles, and human connection. Volunteers greet each guest by name. We ask how they’re doing, not just what they need. Our services are mobile, but our mission is deeply rooted.
We partner with schools, shelters, churches, and civic groups to reach those often overlooked—kids attending school without clean clothes, individuals living without access to showers, and families doing their best in difficult situations. We also donate washer and dryer sets to high-need schools so students can learn with confidence, not shame.

The Hands and Hearts Behind the Mission
Suds of Love runs on compassion—and that compassion shows up through our dedicated volunteers. From folding clothes to praying with guests, they are the heartbeat of this ministry. Some are retirees looking to give back. Others are students, business owners, or parents with a heart for service. Each one brings joy, dignity, and warmth to those we serve.
Our volunteers don’t just serve meals or run machines—they listen, they laugh, they encourage. They treat every guest as an equal, with respect and love.
Faith at the Center
Suds of Love is a faith-driven nonprofit built on the belief that everyone is worthy of dignity, respect, and love—because everyone is made in God’s image. While we serve people of all backgrounds and beliefs, our mission is grounded in prayer and guided by the example of Jesus, who washed feet and welcomed the overlooked. Our motto—“One clean load at a time”—isn’t just about laundry. It’s about restoring hope, one human being at a time.
